'Every year we make New Year resolutions or make health and fitness goals but fail to achieve them. The reason is that we make goals but do not define the path or process to achieve them. In this video, I will share 5 fitness tips that you should follow if you want to be healthier in 2022 and want to adapt fitness as a lifestyle I am sure that if you follow these tips, you will definitely improve your overall health and these tips will also help you to achieve your fitness goals whatever it is – weight loss, muscle gain etc. 1. BE ACTIVE - Since Covid, anyone that I meet complains about gaining weight or becoming lazy - It is mainly due to WFH, less socializing, less traveling and over negativity all around due to this virus - Our lifestyle has become too sedentary, we hardly move - But this year make a promise to yourself to be more active - By active I am not referring to exercising or gymming - I am referring to your generic activity levels throughout the day - First thing – focus on walking more. Track your steps - I have noticed that many people don’t even take more than 2-3 k steps per day - This is killing and if you fall in this category, please start walking more - You don’t have to go out an walk but try to be more active in general life inside your house or apartment - This means walking while talking on phone, while consuming online content, setting up alarm on your phone after every 90 min to walk for 5-10 min 2. EAT ENOUGH PROTEIN - Protein is a crucial macronutrient that is essential for your body - It helps in the repair of muscle tissue, improving muscle size and strength - Apart from muscle building, protein is also essential for your hair & skin health, organ health and has numerous other functions in our body - And generally people think that protein is only required if you go to gym and lift weights - But your body needs protein for carrying many functions - It is also required even if you do yoga, jogging, running, play any sport etc - In my opinion, checking your protein intake should be the first step before setting up any fitness goal - Without adequate protein, it is not possible to achieve your fitness goals or maintain a healthy & strong body - And my protein I am not promoting protein powders - I am asking you to eat more protein from your diet from nutritious food sources that are high in protein like eggs, soya, chicken 3. STRENGTH TRAINING - Most of the population do not prefer lifting weights - Generally people focus more on cardio in any form – treadmill, jogging, morning or evening walks, sports - People associate strength training or weight lifting with muscle building or body builders - Strength training in any form is very good for your overall health - It not only strengthens your muscles, it improves your joint health, blood circulation, nutrient absorption, boosts metabolism, gets you in shape - But common excuses of not doing strength training is – I don’t want to look bulky, I may get injured, I am too old to lift weights, weight training is not for girls - Strength training is important for all of us irrespective of age or gender – yes for both males and females - And you can start by only focusing on body weight training or exercise using resistance bands or light DB at home - But in 2022, please promise yourself to start strength training to live a healthier and stronger life 4. AVOID UNNECCESSARY SNACKING - According to me, unnecessary snacking is the biggest reason of obesity in Indians - We need biscuit or rusk with morning tea, we need toast or namkeen with evening tea, we need revari, gajjak or something sweet after dinner, tea is with 2 spoon sugar which is around 100 calories - We need something to eat while watching Netflix at night - So in 2022, promise yourself to reduce this snacking. Have just tea or replace biscuits or namkeen with low calorie substitute like bhuna chana 5. GET YOUR BLOOD CHECK UP DONE - Most of the people do not get their blood stats checked regularly - We think that everything is fine so why create problem with blood checks - Irrespective of how healthy you think you are, you do not know what is happening inside your body - Even if you are muscular and not overweight, you would have already seen cases of heart attacks, BP, diabetes etc, in people who look perfectly healthy and are not too old - Please get a complete body blood check-up done at least once a year - You should check your cholesterol levels, liver & kidney health, sugar level, thyroid, any vitamin deficiency Email: [email protected] Other social media links: Instagram- https://www.instagram.com/thrivetofit1 Facebook- https://www.facebook.com/thrivetofit1'
